Sars-cov-2 is a fucking tech demo. The actual virus it self doesn’t matter, it’s all about the spike protein. This is likely what they have really been studying and cataloging with the gain of function research with pseudoviruses. If you introduce the right proteins, thru the mechanism of immune response you can back propagate DNA changes. Given a large enough library of proteins and a vector to introduce them in huge amounts in the body, you can shape shift individual organisms into something drastically different than the original organism. They even mention an MIT paper hinting at that, but they throw it away as “highly implausible” and say the researchers were irresponsible. I would bet a million dollars that within a couple years they are going to tout this mechanism as a miracle therapy that can fix any genetic ailment, or even for cosmetic changes, but likely rendering people sterile
